Wi-Fi Alliance

The Wi-Fi Alliance is an international, non-profit trade association committed to fostering the expansion of wireless Local Area Networks (LANs), also known as Radio Local Area Networks (RLANs). This organization has a diverse membership, comprising over 200 companies from various parts of the world.

A key role of the Wi-Fi Alliance is to conduct a certification program that aims to guarantee the compatibility of RLAN products from various manufacturers. This program involves rigorous testing to ensure that products can work seamlessly with each other, regardless of the manufacturer. Products that successfully pass these tests are granted the privilege to display the Wi-Fi logo, signifying their compliance with the Alliance’s standards for interoperability.

Initially, the Wi-Fi Alliance was known as the Wireless Ethernet Compatibility Alliance (WECA). Its focus on promoting the growth and adoption of Wi-Fi technology has been instrumental in standardizing wireless network products, thus enhancing their reliability and user experience across the globe.
