A datagram refers to a data packet transmitted within a datagram-based packet-switched network. Each datagram is equipped with enough information for it to be routed from its source to its destination, without requiring any knowledge about the underlying network or any prior communication history between the source and destination. These datagrams are sent and received autonomously, without interdependence.
Without a doubt, one of the most prominent examples of networks that extensively employ datagrams is the Internet.
