DAB IP, or DAB Enhanced Packet Mode (EPM), enables the transmission of internet traffic via DAB digital radio by encapsulating IP packets within standard DAB frames. This supports multimedia services, including mobile TV. To enhance reception quality, DAB EPM incorporates additional error correction using a Reed-Solomon code, allowing for video transmission. However, this reduces data flow capacity by 7.8%. DAB also offers DMB, a dedicated multimedia transmission addition. DAB IP provides flexibility and easier integration with IP-based networks but incurs a 5% overhead compared to DMB.
