The 3rd Generation Partnership Project 2 (3GPP2) is a collaborative effort involving five standardization organizations with the goal of establishing standards for CDMA2000 technology. The member organizations of 3GPP2 are:

- CCSA – China Communications Standards Association (China)
- TIA – Telecommunications Industry Association (United States)
- TTA – Telecommunications Technology Association (Korea)
- TTC – Telecommunications Technology Committee (Japan)
CDMA2000 is part of the IMT-2000 family of standards for third-generation mobile communications, and it is a prominent member. Its primary competitor is UMTS, which is standardized by 3GPP.
