cdmaOne, based on the IS-95 standard by Qualcomm, is a 2nd generation mobile communication technology deployed in the United States and parts of Asia. Its initial version, IS-95A, offered limited data rates of up to 14.4 kbit/s. IS-95B improved data capabilities, reaching theoretical rates of 115 kbit/s (64 kbit/s in practice). This technology operates on 1.25 MHz bandwidth channels in the 850 and 1900 MHz bands. It paved the way for 3rd generation standards like CDMA2000.
