GSM1X technology facilitates interoperability between GSM and CDMA2000 1X networks, allowing subscribers to use the same handset on both networks. This enables GSM subscribers to access wireless data services through CDMA2000 1X. To achieve this, an interconnection node or gateway is introduced between the GSM and CDMA networks. Subscribers require dual-mode handsets capable of functioning on both GSM and CDMA2000 1X networks.
