Allotment

A radio frequency or radio frequency channel allocation refers to a specific frequency channel designated within an agreed-upon plan. This allocation is made by an administration to provide coverage over a defined geographical area known as the ‘allotment area.’ The administration retains the flexibility to adjust transmitter locations and their specifications, as long as they adhere to the agreed reference values at the perimeter of the designated area.

The practice of allotment planning is primarily employed in the context of broadcasting. It relies on one or more reference networks to establish its framework. Allotment planning offers greater adaptability compared to a plan based on fixed transmission sites and their attributes, which is commonly referred to as an ‘assignment plan.
