Band III

VHF Band III spans from 174-230 MHz in Europe and Asia, and 174-216 MHz in the Americas. It’s primarily used for analog and digital broadcasting, including digital television and radio. Besides broadcasting, it serves land mobile and other services in various countries. In Europe, it’s designated for digital broadcasting, with a fixed channel arrangement of 7 MHz bandwidth (channels 5-12) for digital TV (DVB-T) and the option to split channels into 1.75 MHz sub-channels for digital radio (DAB). Each country is allocated coordinated spectrum, typically comprising 1 digital TV layer and 3 digital radio layers, with adjustments for other service use.
