WorldDMB Forum / WorldDAB

The WorldDMB Forum is an international, non-governmental organization dedicated to the standardization, advocacy, and marketing of technologies based on the Eureka 147 standard worldwide. This includes DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) and DAB+ systems for digital radio, as well as DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) for digital radio and mobile TV.

Since 2000, the WorldDMB Forum has played a pivotal role in standardizing the Eureka-147 family of standards, which initially began as the European Eureka 147 Project. In 1999, this project merged with the WorldDMB Forum, marking a significant step in its evolution.

The membership of the WorldDMB Forum is diverse, encompassing a broad range of stakeholders such as manufacturers, public and commercial broadcasters, content creators, regulatory bodies, and network providers. This wide-ranging participation underscores the forum’s collaborative approach to advancing digital broadcasting technologies.

Originally established in 1995 as the European DAB Forum (EuroDAB), the organization renamed itself to the WorldDAB Forum in 1997 to reflect its global ambitions in promoting DAB. Later, to signify the broader applicability of the Eureka-147 standard beyond digital radio, it adopted the name WorldDMB Forum. This change underscores the forum’s commitment to promoting a versatile standard that can cater to a variety of digital broadcasting and multimedia needs.
