HSCSD

High Speed Circuit Switched Data (HSCSD) is an improvement in GSM network data rates. It achieves this by allowing the allocation of multiple time slots to a single user and adapting error correction based on radio channel quality. While a standard slot supports 9.6 kbps, HSCSD can boost it to 14.4 kbps, with a maximum rate of 115.2 kbps when all eight slots are allocated to one user. In practice, users are often limited to three slots, resulting in a 43.2 kbps rate. HSCSD is cost-effective for GSM networks and requires minimal modifications, but users need compatible terminals.
